HYPOTENSIÓN
Hypotension means low arterial tension.
If arterial tension goes down under dangerous limits, as it may
occur in severe hemorrhages, in the scenario known as shock,
probably due to acute heart ailments or very grave infections,
among others, hypotension may endanger life.
Chronic low arterial tension is quite common; it means regularly
having low arterial tension under average levels, but not at
dangerous levels. It may be caused by several medicines (including
prescriptions for hypertension) or situations like pregnancy,
diabetes or atherosclerosis.
ORTHOSTATIC OR POSTURAL HYPOTENSION
Produces dizziness or even very frequent
unconsciousness, which may occur after standing up from a
seating position in a fast way. It is more frequent after being
under the sun for a long time or a after a prolonged fast.
If you suffer from orthostatic hypotension, avoid the following
situations.
In any case, if you have suffered one or more blackouts or
dizziness spells, you have to see your doctor, who will decide
if you have to be examined by a determinate specialist. |
